The Belmont Home

The Belmont Renovation, is a completely remodeled Victorian Home in the Boulevard. This beautiful 4 beds 5 baths 3,642 SF piece of history is situated on a corner lot in an established neighborhood.

First Floor: The Great Rm/Living Rm features gorgeous hardwood floors and fireplace. The kitchen updates include a completely new layout, new cabinets, hardwood floors, quartz countertops, new appliances, recessed lighting, and french doors leading to new covered Trex deck. Farmers National Bank Building

Sitting on Main Street, within the Butler Downtown Historic District, the Farmers National Bank building is one of Butler’s most prominent original bank buildings. One of the most magnificent transformations came once the stone façade was cleaned. The original First National Bank carving was displayed, illustrating the buildings original historic use. New windows were fabricated and installed, replacing the inefficient aluminum windows. Greek key details on the metal panels were cleaned and highlighted using contrasting paint colors. Details on the façade that once were overlooked are now evident as you walk down main street. With commercial space on the

first floor and residential on the second, floor plans were arranged to ensure the efficient use of every square foot. What once was unusable space within this building is now viable, useful space.

RB Cigar Bar & Speakeasy

Located in the Cornerstone Commons Building, the RB Cigar Bar & Speakeasy started out as a blank slate. In 2017, Arris Construction, LLC started major interior renovations that transformed an empty storage area it into what it is present day. Installment of wall divisions were completed, along with removal of plaster; exposing existing stone that was blasted, cleaned and sealed.

Suspended ceilings were installed throughout; concealing the addition of a HVAC system, electric and plumbing. Old wood floors were brought back to live by sanding, staining and sealing, leaving remnants of paint for affect 

and character. Fire rated entrances were designed and built along with two single use restrooms to meet ADA requirements. This all transcends into the stunning underground timestamp that we currently know as The RB Cigar Bar & Speakeasy in downtown Butler, PA

The Heritage Building

The historic Heritage Building, with its unique curved façade, was once neglected and in poor condition. Arris Construction performed an interior and exterior façade renovation, turning this once dilapidated structure into a functional residential and commercial space. Façade renovations included an addition of a new ramp and sidewalks, making the building accessible by wheelchair. New energy efficient windows were installed, the storefront was updated, and brick was cleaned and painted. Within the interior, upper floors were made into four separate apartments, arranged in such a way that ensured elevator accessibility to all. Within the apartments, Arris

Construction took extra measures to preserve as much historic character as possible.Trim and moldings were salvaged, original hardwood floors were refinished, unique built-ins and pocket doors were saved and made functional again. New mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work was performed in all spaces to ensure that this historic building now functions properly and efficiently.

The Cornerstone Commons Building

The Cornerstone Commons Building, located on Main Street in Butler, was built in the early 1900’s by Thayer Architects of New Castle, PA.  The large four story structure was the long standing home of John Honse Furniture and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  In 2004, the building was purchased from the Odd Fellows and renovated to include new offices and a fourth floor ballroom where the Odd Fellows Banquet Hall once was.

 Major interior renovations include mechanical upgrades throughout the building.  An elevator was installed in the center of the building to accommodate for ADA accessibility. As with many older buildings, stair railings throughout the building were too short and did not meet code requirements. 

The railings in the Cornerstone Commons building, however, were original stained wood with detailed decorative carvings.  To accommodate code requirements, without having to remove the historically significant railings, theexisting railings were altered with new railing extensions and decorative spindles.

The Ballroom, once the Odd Fellows Banquet Hall, was in need of aesthetic repairs.  The sixteen foot high coffered plaster ceilings with egg and dart details were damaged throughout.  Plaster walls and ceilings were patched and painted and the decorative egg and dart details were re-casted, patched and painted.

The Odd Fellows once had an extended platform around the perimeter of the ballroom.  Once this platform was removed to create an open space, new decorative wood base was replicated, installed, and stained to match the baseboards throughout the rest of the building.

The Lichty Building

Built in 1880 with a mid century façade renovation completed in 1954, the Litchty Building has a unique exterior façade representative of the mid-century modern movement with interior historic characteristics still reminiscent of the late 1800’s. Working closely with the historic preservation organizations in Butler, Arris Construction was asked to maintain the modern façade, as it is historic in itself. As requested, Arris Construction cleaned the corrugated metal façade and added new energy efficient windows and awnings, matching the mid-century look of the existing windows. New storefront was redesigned to provide for ADA accommodations and a planter box was built to add to Butler Downtown’s greens cape. Within the interior, original brick walls were salvaged, sealed, and displayed and tin ceilings were repaired and painted. In the apartments, fireplaces were saved and original beams and studs were reused as trim and baseboards. New construction included walls with spray foam insulation, new floors throughout, and update mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

The Flack Building

According to Butler’s National Register of Historic Places nomination, Butler's position as a major manufacturer of steel and rail cars brought growth and prosperity to the City, all reflected in the scale and character of the downtown commercial buildings. The Flack Building, once a sign of industrial expansion, was sitting vacant and in very poor condition. Arris Construction performed a much needed façade renovation, cleaning the brick, installing new windows on the upper floors, and replacing the storefront. Within the interior, the upper floors were divided into apartments. Original doors, transoms, hardware, and trim was salvaged

and reused throughout. What started out as a vacant, unlivable building is now transformed into usable space that continues to tell the history of downtown Butler’s industrial “boom”.
